Simon J Fletcher.

Born in England of Scottish, German and English origin, the artist attended St Albans, Watford and West Surrey Art Schools before graduating in 1971. Pursuing one of his main interests he studied landscape design with Peter Coates and John Brooks amongst others before setting up his own company in 1976. He won first prize from the British Association of Landscape Industries in 1980 for a private garden in Hampshire.

Moving to France in 1982 in order to concentrate on painting Simon Fletcher began developing his techniques in water colour and pastel which has resulted in his frequent exhibitions all over Europe, workshops in both disciplines and a growing number of publications including three major books, one on his water colours published in Paris in 1995, one on his work in pastel, published in Munich in 1997 and a book of his works in Japan and Germany published by Hitachi in 2000. His latest book 'Painting the light on the land' is a record of work done in the past 18 months in several countries and includes a text by the artist on working from nature.

As well as work in many public and private collections he has also been sponsored by a number of multi national companies including Hitachi Corporation, Deutsche Telecom and Osram, Germany.

The artist is proud to be associated with some of the leading contemporary painters in water colour today, a medium that in recent years has seen a great resurgence of interest in mainland Europe.
